CHILDREN hopped into the Botanical Gardens to participate in Easter-inspired arts and crafts activities during a fun guided workshop on April 9.
The event was a fundraiser for the Environmental Education Garden project – a collaboration between the Botanical Gardens and Prosper Coffs.

Some 35 children showed up that day to create Easter decorations; paint chickens on river rocks, decorate Easter eggs on recyclable materials and create Easter baskets.
After the arty fun, they then embarked on an Easter egg hunt.
Nola Miles, Friends of the North Coast Regional Garden, said: “Events such as the Children’s Easter Workshop are perfect for bringing the whole family together and raising awareness of how botanic gardens are such a great asset to the community.
“All proceeds from the event will go to the Children’s Environmental Education Garden project, which we are delighted to partner with Prosper Coffs.
“Once funded, the Children’s Environmental Education Garden project at the Botanical Gardens will provide a dedicated space for environmental education for visiting school groups and the wider community, with an education centre, digging garden and a nature playground,” Prosper Coffs Harbor organizers Melissa Nunn told News Of The Area.
The experience of children learning outdoors has powerful impacts, such as improved behavior, children’s enthusiasm for learning, and the opportunity to thrive for students who may struggle in a normal classroom.
Reports also show that outdoor learning teaches students practical skills such as problem solving, teamwork and creativity.
