As every year, the Consell’s environmental education program will offer Mallorcan school children the opportunity to enjoy a range of fun and interactive activities with.
The vice-president and adviser for sustainability and the environment of the Consell de Mallorca, Aurora Ribot, and the island’s director for the environment, Inmaculada Férriz, presented on September 15 the environmental education program for the school year 2022-2023. The new program has a total of 16 interactive educational activities.
The workshop program is divided into four units: natural environment, ethnological heritage, maritime heritage and classroom activities. The activities are aimed at class groups of all ages and last from 50 minutes to three hours.
Aurora Ribot said, “These environmental education activities aim to bring students closer to the natural environment and to awaken climate awareness in them. This is very important, because this generation will have to lead the transition to a different, more sustainable model.
“Many of these children do not have the opportunity to see all the natural wealth that can be found in Mallorca or do not have access to basic knowledge on environmental issues. Making them accessible is essential to combat inequalities For this reason, we offer these activities for free,” she added.
